Trip to the Auckland Museum

Trip to the Auckland Museum
On Tuesday the 28th of October Year 7’s went to the Auckland Museum. When we went to the Auckland Museum when we entered the first thing we saw was the 2 Maori leaders about to greet the international visitors.

When we were all settled  in the museum, this lady talked to us about the rules. After the lady went we had to go to the Kai room and eat our morning tea. After that we had to go in our groups then we had to go into the gallerie’s. The First Gallerie that we went into we were looking at  olden day cloths and what they were wearing and what kind of furniture they had.

The Second Gallery was The Maori Gallery The first thing you see when you step into the Maori Gallery you can see a big Waka and heap’s of Maori weapons that they use in the war. Out task was to sketch a pattern and we had to sketch a Harakeke made out of flax. At the entry of the Maori gallery we went into a Whare and there was a construction site in the middle. Some of the kids were sketching some of the patterns and some of them were sketching out side. When my group entered

The Gallery that we went after the Maori gallery. My group went to the pacific Gallery. when we went into the pacific gallery we could see Weapons, tapas, traditional cloths and we saw the islands culture and what kind of dance they do. In the pacific gallery there would be more than one traditional mats. In the Pacific Gallery the Islands shown on the floor there were Tonga, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Cook Islands and Papua new Guinea and many more.

After all the gallery’s that we had went into the sea life and looked at sharks, dolphins and fishes and more. Then we took the photos of students with sharks fishes and dolphins. Then when we went into the Volcano Part of the Museum then when we looked at what happens after a volcano is done erupting. When we were looking around we saw this sculpture, The sculpture that we were looking at a person filled in ashes praying before he was going to die.

After we looked around we went into this house that had a movie in it, when we went in there we had to sit down anywhere it looked like a real house but when we looked at the front of us we saw a window and the view of Mission bay. Then when we were all settled in, the new turned on then the massive explosion started and the room shock and it was really loud and one of the girls in my group fell because she was really scared.

When we were finished from visiting the other galleries we had to go back to have our lunch. While we were still arriving to the entrance of the museum to have lunch we went past the Pacific Gallery, The Maori Gallery and The olden day stuff. After our lunch we had to go out side of the museum and do a task that Mrs Lagitupu gave us. Mrs Lagitupu gave us a piece of paper which had instructions on it cause every group had an Ipad and a Iphone.

On the piece of paper it had a task to take photos of different stuff. On the piece of paper it said to take five close up photos of a flower, five photos of an interesting tree from five different angles, four photos of a bird close up, five photos of interesting photos of water and Many more cool task.

The Auckland Museum is very inspiring. We learnt how to do art and Patterns how we do the outlines and the patterns in side of the tapas.

Why do you need to wash your hands? Explanation

Why do you need to wash your hands?

Keeping your hands clean is very important. If you don’t wash your hands you can get sick, get someone else sick and it might cause a diseases. Washing your hands is very important because when you high five someone you touch their hands and they have the germs.

When you don’t wash your hands and you go for dinner, lunch or breakfast you might touch the food with your hands and you might get the bacteria in your mouth and get sick. If you play outside and touch anything that's dirty and after that you don’t wash you hands after that you might put your hands on the knobs of the door and other people touch and they have the bacteria.

Washing your hands are really Important when you put your hands in your mouth you might get the bacteria and dirt in your hand in your mouth. After using the bathroom you should always wash your hands because after you use the bathroom and you leave and you touch the door knob it spread around the door knob and everyone will touch it and the bacteria will go on their hands.

When you see a dog or cat or any animal you must wash your hands after you pat them. After  you pat an animal you must wash your hands after that because you don’t know if the pet had a shower or you don’t even know where the pet had been. You can still pat Pets but make sure you wash your hands after petting the pet.

Washing your hands can stop the germs from spreading. Thinking about what you have touched like dirt, mud, grass, bugs, pets or door knobs. When you blow your nose on a tissue. you need to wash your hands.

Why is it Important to have school/class rules?

Why is it Important to have school/class rules?

If schools did not have any rules it will be dangerous because if there were no rules students will misbehave and leave school and do whatever they want to.

When schools and classes don’t have any rules the students will disrespect the teachers and other students. If the students behave really badly and they are disrespectful to the teachers, the teachers might get really angry at them and discipline them.

Rules should always be in schools and classes or else students would be dodgy, tag on the walls, smoke, steal and they might bully one another. Rules are really important because they might swear and it might be dangerous because students will be scared to come out of class and come to school.

Term 4 Immersion Assembly

Immersion Assembly

On Monday 13th of October, Pt England had an Immersion assembly. Whenever we go back to school we always go to Immersion assembly in the hall at the start of the term. We learn about what were going to be focused on the whole term.

Team 1 did an item when they were playing on the beach and they were surfing and playing surfing music, then they were playing on the sand with shovels and buckets. When they were finished then Mrs George said “we are going down to the river and looking at the environment”.

Team 2 teachers showed us a movie about primary colours. The primary colours are red, blue and yellow. They taught us about what colour makes another colour.

Next Mrs Barks from Team 3 was introducing the other teachers like they were other famous artist on the world. One of the first teachers were pretending to be Leonardo Da Vinci and showing everyone what their most famous portrait ever. Leonardo’s Painting was the famous Mona Lisa. Another famous artist was another teacher pretending to be Andy Warhol. Andy Warhol was famous of making his own portrait of a Tomato Soup. The other teacher was pretending to be another artist his special talent was when he falls asleep and he gets his ideas from his dreams. When he wakes up he gets a piece of canvas and a paint brush and paints what was in his dream.

Team 4 did an item when they did a competition of who is the best artist. The teachers pretended to be famous artists in the world. Mrs Lavakula pretended to be Fatu Feu’u and having the most famous Polynesian art. Mr Goodwin (Claude Monet) was famous for his pointillism art. He would just get his finger and paint what ever he sees. Mrs Jacobsen was pretending to be Vincent Van Gogh. Vincent Van Gogh painted his famous art called the Starry Night.
Starry Night was painted in 1889. Mr Somerville pretended to be a French artist and trying to have a French accent but actually had a Russian accent.
Finally Team 5 did a really awesome item. They had a piece of paper and it was hanging from the board and they had to paint important people at Pt England school. When they were painting the portraits there was a video playing. When they were finished they turned it around it appeared to be Mr Jacobsen, Mrs Jarman and Mr Burt. Then everyone was gasping and clapping.
Coming back to school was amazing for me because I get to focus on what I enjoy to do. Team 4 is gonna be really exciting because its a new term and were focusing on Art Attack.
