Tamaki tech
On Thursdays class 2 and class 4 and class 1 year 8’s walked down to tamaki to do tech. The first time we went down to tamaki college we were lost and both of the classes that were year 7’s we were walking all over the place, but when Mrs, Squires told us that we were at the class that we never went to so then when we saw your teacher when he opened the door he introduced himself and his name was “ Mr, Grundy” Then we went inside.
When we went inside it was very cold inside and it was very warm outside. Then we had to start learning about the metal that we were going to use. The medal that we were going to use was called “ Pewter” we weren’t going to use gold or silver even though the colour of silver but it wasn’t the real silver if we do it to big then it might look cheap.
Firstly when you get the cardboard that you have to draw your project you will have to write your name on it first so he can know witch one is yours. Then you have to turn your drawing over and roughly mark where it is, you will have to put your MDF under your paper then you will have to put your pencil on the back of your final drawing.Place your MDF under your drawing, Carefully trace your final design, Pressing quit hard.
Your design will have transferred to your MDF.Using the scroll saw to cut out the shape from the MDF.Mark the outside pieces. Now were ready for shaping on the sander shaped and ready for pouring. Now we can melt the pewter.Pouring the pewter in the cardboards. Now we have to leave them to cool. Now after we have seen our project we have to cut off the the sprue with a junior hack saw.drilling the hole into the cast with the bench top pillar drill.
Now we have to use the needling files to get a great finish on the edges.Hold the work in the bench vice for areas that need more filling.Getting a good finish. Here are some of the sand papers:firstly you get the 180, 400 and 1200 then you can use 1200 grit water.Wipe off the grit. Now you will have to polish with brasso for the final shine.Adding the clip to the project.
I really liked doing hard matreals at tamaki. When you are a year 7 or 8 and you got down to tamaki and your in hard matreals here is a hint that you will do in hard matreals.
Hi Leila
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your writing about Tamaki Tech. I really like the amount of effort and detail that you have put into your writing. Well done. Also thanks for explaining what the numbers 180, 400...etc are. Next time you need to think about your audience when you write. Some sentences were a bit repetitive and think about how you start your sentences. Thanks Leila.
Thank you Mrs.Lagitupu for your nice comment.I will work on that stuff that you told me to work on next time n my piece of writing
